Autumn Self-Care Guide: Feel Better This Fall!
Rosemarie Allen • November 5, 2024

Hey there! 🍁 The leaves are changing, the air is crisp, and autumn is officially here!

This season is perfect for taking care of yourself in simple ways that make a big difference. Here are four easy ways to feel healthier, happier, and cozier this fall—think of them like your personal “Autumn Power-Ups”!

1. Build Your Immune System 🛡️

Your immune system is like your body’s superhero, keeping germs away! But as the weather cools down, it can use a little extra help.

Try This:
Start each morning with a quick stretch. Stretching wakes up your muscles, gets blood flowing, and even helps your immune system stay strong!

Press Here:
There’s a neat spot on your hand between your thumb and index finger (called LI4 or “Hegu”) that helps boost your immune system. Press it gently for a few seconds to help keep colds away!

Eat This:
Add garlic and onions to your meals. They’re like secret weapons that make your body strong and ready to fight off germs!

2. Stay Warm from the Inside Out 🔥

As the air gets chilly, keep your bodies warm!

Try This:
Sip warm water or tea throughout the day. It feels cozy and helps your body stay warm and healthy.

Press Here:
A special point just below your knee (called ST36) can help to warm up your whole body.

Eat This:
Warm soups, roasted veggies, and stews are perfect for this season. These foods keep your body cozy from the inside out! Avoid eating cold foods as the weather gets colder.

3. Get Better Sleep 💤

As the days get shorter, it’s a great time to work on getting more restful sleep!

Try This:
Set a bedtime and stick to it! Going to bed at the same time every night helps your body know when it’s time to rest.

Press Here:
There’s a spot behind your earlobe, called the Anmian point, that can help you fall asleep. Give it a gentle massage before bed to help you relax.

Eat This:
Snack on a banana before bedtime! Bananas have magnesium, which relaxes your muscles and gets your body ready for a good night’s sleep.

4. Boost Your Mood 🌞

It’s easy to feel a little down as the days get shorter, so let’s lift our spirits with some positivity!

Try This:
Practice gratitude. Every day, think of three things that make you happy or thankful. This simple habit can make you feel a lot better!

Press Here:
There’s a calming spot on your wrist called Heart 7 (HT7). Gently massaging this area can help brighten your mood and calm your mind.

Eat This:
A piece of dark chocolate can do wonders for your mood! It’s packed with antioxidants and can help you feel happy and cozy.

Enjoy these autumn self-care tips and try a few of them out this season. Remember, little changes can make a big difference in how you feel! And if you ever need extra support, we’re here for you at A Balanced You Acupuncture & Wellness Center. 🍂
